Firebowl moving to October

Editor:

We started Firebowl in 2000 to raise funds to outfit the new fire truck that Thornville Fire Department had purchased; we raised a nice chunk of change and everyone was happy.

Firebowl 2001 our goal was to raise funds to go towards buying a thermal imager. I was asked over and over "Why do we need this piece of equipment?" I would reply "I hope we never need it but if it saves one life then it's a good thing to have." In 2004 a firefighter (Rob) using the piece of equipment saved Jonah (who was three) and everyone was happy.

We held Firebowl at Village Lanes for fiveyears and it benefitedthe Thornville Fire Department.

Firebowl 2005 was the first year the event was held at Starlite Lanes on behalf of the Thurston Fire Department. We raised a nice chunk of change and everyone was happy. Firebowl 2006 was interrupted by the tones going off and my firedepartment teams having to leave to go on a run. Firebowl 2007 went off without a hitch.

Firebowl 2008 will be held this year in the month of October at the end of Fire Prevention Week. See, you can teach an old dog a new trick!
