Deer gun season opens with a bang
      LAKE AREA - Monday was a great day for hunters, but a bad one for deer. Lake area deer check stations were busy. Alyssa Skeens of Glenford's B&C Drive Thru said B&C checked 65 deer Monday, which was opening day for deer gun season. At the other end of Buckeye Lake, Millersport Bait & Tackle's Mary Schilling said 28 deer were received Monday.

Trustees cut Millersport's portion of levy income
      MILLERSPORT - It took about an hour and a half November 25 for Walnut Township Trustees to tell Millersport officials that the village will get less money next year for providing fire/EMS services to the township. Trustee Sonny Dupler, who did most of the talking for trustees, claims the cut will just be a few hundred dollars.

Trustees approve two-year contract with Granville
      HEBRON - Union Township Trustees unanimously agreed to a two-year contract with the Granville Township Fire Department for EMS and fire protection for the portion of the township north of the CSX railway. The contract will cost the township $65,000 for 2009 and $80,000 for 2010.

Wrap it up for Christmas
      MILLERSPORT - Lotruse Mother's Club is sponsoring "Let's Wrap it Up for Christmas" fund raiser at the Millersport United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall December 13 from noon to 4 p.m. For a small fee you can have your gifts wrapped. There will be a Christmas Cookie Walk and some vendor tables such as Tastefully Simple, Mary Kay and others.

     The Village of Millersport recently dedicated its new water treatment plant. From left to right above are Michael Carder, president of GGC Engineers; John A. Wood, water superintendent; Doug Carpenter, Board of Public Affairs; David Sherrer, Board of Public Affairs; Chris Tennant, Board of Public Affairs; and David Levacy, council president. GGC designed the plant and supervised its construction. The state-of-art plant can treat 1.0 million gallons per day and can be easily expanded to twice that amount. Treatment includes iron and manganese removal, ion exchange softening and chlorine disinfection.
