Shriner, Van Horn race headed to recount

NEW LEXINGTON - The drama continues for Perry County Commissioner candidates Charles Van Horn and incumbent Fred Shriner.

The Perry County Board of Elections released official election results Tuesday showing Shriner's unofficial lead of 32 votes narrowing to just eight votes - 7,255 votes for Shriner and 7,247 for Van Horn.That very narrow margin triggers an automatic recount. Recount results will be announced at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov.25.

According to the official results, in the other county commissioner race Ed Keister edged Lloyd Harley 7,382 votes to 7,132. Incumbent Sheriff William Barker defeated challenger Amy Nash English 8,244 votes to 6,881 and Common Pleas Probate Judge Luann Cooperrider clobbered challenger David Humphrey 10,489 votes to 4,283. In the Clerk of Court race incumbent Timothy Wollenberg defeated Chad Wilkins 9,436 votes to 5,077, and for county recorder, incumbent Barbara Fox defeated Ron Baker 9,807 votes to 4,868.
