M. Hazel Wright

M. Hazel Wright, 96, of Liberty Twp., Baltimore, died Oct. 5, 2008, at Rockmill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carroll.

She was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Washington Twp., Guernsey County, the daughter of the late Rezin Basil Harding and Maggie Emaline Swaim Harding.

She is survived by her two sons, Howard D. (Elizabeth) Wright, DVM, Washington Court House and Wallace B. (Ann) Wright, DVM of Mansfield and Anaconda, Montana; Charles' widow, Phyllis Wright of Baltimore, and Clements' widow, Martha Bellison Wright (Fielding) Massie of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Melissa Wright (Andy) Sponseller, Susan Wright (Todd) Whittaker, Sarah Wright (Mac) Richardson, John (Anne) Wright, Jane Wright (Charles) Dietrich, Beth Wright (Brian) Archer, Lisa Wright (Brian) Schiffer, Julie Wright (Fred) Denney, and Anthony (Aurea) Wright; 13 great-grandchildren, Alison and Charles Sponseller, Rebekah and Nathaniel Whittaker, Emily and Katie Richardson, Hannah and Ethan Wright, David, Kevin and Ryan Dietrich, Lauren Schiffer and Julius Wright; sister, Mary Harding of Carroll County; and brother, Oscar Harding of Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton O. Wright in 1976; sons, Charles C. Wright in 2007 and Clement O. Wright in 1985; two infant siblings; and sisters, Florence Opal Harding, Sadie Pearl Goode, Violet Virginia Cunningham and Maggie Ethel Harding.

Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Basil Memorial Cemetery, with John Butcher of Lancaster Community Church officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore.
