Wilma Anita Lee Strickland
Wilma Anita Lee (Simons) Strickland, age 67 of Buckeye Lake, lost her courageous battle with multiple types of cancer on the evening of October 5, 2008, in the Hospice Care Unit of Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. Surrounded by her children, and in family tradition, the window was opened to allow her spirit to fly, and be reunited with her soul mate and husband of many years, Irvin H B Strickland.
She was the mother of five surviving children; Jo Patts (Shawn) of Pataskala; Joyce Wright (Duncan) of Lowell, Indiana; John Strickland (Susan) of Akron; Edward Strickland (Julie) of Whitehall; and Judi Burney (Greg) of Fishers, Indiana.
She was a grandmother and great grandmother to many including American Servicemen she was very proud of.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Simons, and her parents, Alvie and Hazel Simons of North Sioux City, South Dakota, where she was born and raised.
She is survived by seven sisters and brothers; Patricia, Barbara, William, Fred, David, Mike and Danny.
An intimate bedside memorial service was held and officiated by Pastor Tom Myers as per her wishes. She donated her anatomical body for medical research.
