A detour sign on Ohio 204 west of Millersport at the intersection with Ohio 37 have some Millersport business owners concerned. Rosann Franks, co-owner of Oak Creations in Millersport, said an out-of-town customer saw the sign and followed the detour, eventually ending up in Somerset. She fears other customers will see the sign and figure that they can't reach Millersport. The sign notes that the closure is seven miles down the road, but some drivers don't realize that the actual closure is just west of Thornville, some five miles east of Millersport. The early notice is required since ODOT only reroutes traffic over state highways. Millersport is still open for business. Ohio 204 closed just west of Zartman Road for a bridge replacement on Sept. 8. If weather permits, the work should be completed by Monday, Oct. 26. Hebron residents Jack and Jan Yocum stand atop a wheelchair ramp donated Aug. 17 to Jack, a member of the Men's Auxiliary VFW Post 1388, by his fellow members. Yocum has been in and out of the hospital the past several months. "Now I know he can get out of the house safely on his own if he has to," said Jan, Jack's wife. The long metal ramp features a shallow incline, rails, and sandy paint to provide traction. Jack said his mobility was limited after the amputation of his left leg and right toes. The old wooden ramp was too steep and slick for him to operate on his own. "I would especially like to thank 'the crew' for their hard work, consideration, and craftsmanship," said Yocum. He thanked Bob Schilling, Rick Vanoster, Jack Backus, Ralph Sullivan, Joe and Pete Krammer, Custom Welding, and Fisher Marina.
