Charles Allen McCarty

A celebration of life service for Charles Allen McCarty, 81, of Hebron, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hebron Church of the Nazarene, 115 W. Canal, with Pastor Bill VanMeter officiating, where military honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Halley's Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. McCarty passed away Sept. 12, 2008, at his residence. He was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Byesville, to the late Nearess and Alma (Bond) McCarty.

Mr. McCarty was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He retired in 1983 from Kaiser Aluminum. He was a member of the Kaiser Retirees until his illness, Occupation Forces in Germany as a B-29 mechanic, the Hebron Church of the Nazarene, and former member of the Licking Valley Lions Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and never met anyone he didn't like.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carolyn Anne "Terry" McCarty, whom he married Aug. 21, 1982; children, E. Jean (Dick) Boorn, Barbara Orcutt, Jo Stewart, Anna McCarty, Patricia (Jeff) Conners, Charles R. McCarty and Anita Matson, all of Newark; stepchildren, Rae Anne (Robert) Johnson, of Newark, and Jack (YuFen) Dusan, of Rising Sun, Ind.; brother, Roy (Mary) McCarty, of Massillon; sisters, Alice Fisk and Luella (Ken) Lanning, both of Massillon, and Laura (Ralph) Combs, of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn McCarty; sister, Ruth Yarnell; and his grandson, Randy Stapleton.
