Charles E. Hagans Sr.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Charles E. Hagans Sr., 72, of Newark, was September 8, 2008, at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, Newark, with Pastor Bob Beyer and Pastor Carol Kirk officiating. Burial was in Newark Memorial Gardens with the Licking County Veterans Alliance providing military honors.
Chuck was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Coshocton County to the late Eugene and Sylvia (Switzer) Hagans. He was one of 17 children. He passed away Sept. 5, 2008, at Licking Memorial Hospital.
Chuck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Before retirement, he was a mechanic with the Ohio National Guard for 32 years. He was a member of the Jacksontown United Methodist Church. Charles enjoyed fishing, boating, taking his family on camping trips and going deer hunting with his son, Chuck Jr. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by all.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ruby (King) Hagans, of Newark, whom he married Dec. 24, 1960; two daughters, Mary Ann Hagans, of Buckeye Lake, and Kimberly Hagans, of Newark; son, Charles (Melinda) Hagans Jr., of Dayton; granddaughter, Elyse Marie Hagans, of Las Vegas; four sisters, Harriett Hall, of Bladensburg, June (Kenneth) Huffman, of Mount Vernon, Doris (Jim) Fry, of Warsaw, and Verna (Dave) Emmerson, of Coshocton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and seven sisters.
