Nola J. Brode

Nola J. Brode, 84, of Millersport, passed away suddenly at her home on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008.

Nola was born Jan. 31, 1924, to Thomas and Virginia (Dean) Winter. She worked on the railroad, was a basketball star as a 5-foot 2-inch guard, loved to pick berries and enjoyed being around her grandchildren. The family would like to thank Hospice of Central Ohio, Passport and special thanks to granddaughter, Kimmy, for all of her help and devotion.

She is survived by her three daughters, Patty (Dan) Brison of Thornville, Jennie (Steve) Walton of Baltimore and Linda (Steve) Seibert of New Lexington; two sons, David (Linda) Brode of Millersport and Jimmie Brode of Millersport; two brothers, Robert (Joyce) Winter and Samuel (Jan) Winter, both of Pennsylvania; one sister, Vesta (Hubert) Cagle of Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Nola was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L. and Virginia E. (Dean) Winter; husband, David L. Brode; son, Thomas Brode; and one grandchild.

Services were August 5, 2008, at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, Thornville, with the Rev. Hubert Cagle officiating. Burial followed at the Millersport Cemetery.
