Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

For Your Heath 5K Run and Walk: Saturday August 9. Run begins at 8:30 a.m. and Walk begins at 8:40 a.m. sponsored by The Dawes Arboretum, Licking Memorial Health Systems, YMCA of Licking Couty and Granville Fitness. . Registration is required. Call LMHS at (740) 348-4102 or visit www.premierraces.com. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. $25 fee for the race, walk requires registration but is free.

Night Hike: Friday, August 15, 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. Experience The Arboretum at night! Kids and adults are welcome to attend the hike through collections, woodlands and trails on one of our most popular programs. Free, meet at the Visitors Center Deck.

The grounds are open from dawn to dusk. The Visitors Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Call 740-323-2355 or 800-44-DAWES for information or visit www.dawesarb. org.

Lake Tours - Buckeye Lake. See historic Buckeye Lake by boat. Take a ride on the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society's Queen of the Lake II. The 50-passenger boat cruises every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from May to October. Board at the Buckeye Lake State Park's North Shore Ramp just off Ohio 79 in the Village of Buckeye Lake. Tours are not operated during thunderstorms. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. Children under age 5 are free. Tour of Homes - Buckeye Lake. The Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association's Tour of Homes returns for the 24th year Sunday, Aug. 10. The first boat departs Liebs Island at noon and the last boat leaves to start the tour at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the launch site for a $15 donation. This year's featured homes are built on the infamous 4.5 mile long earthen dam that turned a swamp into a lake.

Back to School Book Sale - Newark Public Library. The Library is selling used books, videos and books on tape next door to the Main Library located at 101 West Main Street, Newark, in the former Spencer Walker Press Building from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 14. Printed materials will be sold for $1 per bag including state sales tax. The Library will provide grocery style bags. A large selection of VHS movies will be priced at $.25 each including state sales tax. Books on tape will also be priced at $.25 each including state sales tax. All other items will be priced as marked. Early sales will not be permitted.

Wings of Victory Airshow - Fairfield County Airport, Lancaster. This year's show features the F-16 East Coast Demo Team, F-16/P-51 Heritage Flight, B-17 "Memphis Belle, Carol Pilon wing walking, Mig 17 jet fighter, aerobatics and many more warbirds. Gates open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 16-17. Admission is $10 for adults, children 12 & under are free. Visit HistoricalAircraftSquardron. com for more information.
