Trustees approve 14 road resurfacing projects
      JACKSONTOWN - Licking Township Trustees unanimously agreed Monday night to spend $256,110.37 on 14 township road resurfacing projects. Increasing oil prices, which affect asphalt prices, prompted trustees to put out one bid package, rather than following the recent practice of doing resurfacing in two stages during the summer and late summer.

Village to seek replacement levy
      MILLERSPORT - Village council members unanimously agreed Tuesday night to seek a replacement levy to replace the expiring 2.7 mill operating levy. The five-year levy which will be collected through 2009 generates about $49,000 a year for village operating expenses.

      NEWARK - LEADS Community Action Agency now has funds available to assist income eligible senior citizens with their elecric bills. Call the Buckeye Lake LEADS Center at 928-4481 to make an appointment and get more information about assistance.

     Christ United Methodist Church of Baltimore received more than $1,300 for it's "Sending Love Over There" project Sunday. Project volunteers sold $658 in posters, banners, hats, shirts and cutouts to Dale Earnhart Jr. fans when his No. 88 AMP visited Baltimore Market IGA Express. All the items were donated by Pepsi and Baltimore Market. Clarence Cardwell, Baltimore Market owner, then matched their sale revenue with a $658 donation. Some flooding relief possible next year
      HEBRON - At the very least, we need to return local flooding to its levels before the Seller's Point spillway was built, Union Township Trustee chair John Slater believes. Floodwaters from heavy rains June 26 and 27 closed down both directions of I-70 June 27. Traffic detoured from I-70 ,plus closures of state, county and township roads made travel difficult June 27.
