Dorothy Evelyn Gockenbach

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dorothy Evelyn Gockenbach, 79, formerly of Hebron, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery, Newark.

Dorothy passed away peacefully Monday, June 16, 2008, at her daughter's home in Sebring, Fla., surrounded by her family and friends. She was born May 16, 1929, in Bellaire, to the late Walter and Gladys Phillips Lynsky.

Dorothy enjoyed working as a waitress for numerous restaurants in the area, including Carlos Steakhouse, The Sunset Inn and Williams.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family, which includes her sons, Larry (Sally), of St. Louisville, and Jeff (Diane), of Newark; her daughter, Vickie (Steve) Teets, of Sebring, Fla.; her four grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her sister, Joann Hobbs; and her brother, Dick Lynsky.

Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville.
