Dewey Kennedy Jr.

A funeral service for Dewey Kennedy Jr., 83, of Thornville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the South Shore Ministries, Thornville. Burial will be immediately after the service at Oakthorpe Cemetery, Rushville.

Mr. Kennedy passed away suddenly Monday.

He was born April 21, 1925, in Thornville, to the late Dewey and Essie (Snider) Kennedy Sr.

Dewey was a member of the South Shore Ministries, a board member of the State Farm Bureau, president of the Perry County Farm Bureau, State Holstein, and a Perry County commissioner for 12 years. He also enjoyed working as a farmer in Perry County.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Kennedy; sons, Mark (Jane) Kennedy and Mike (Beth) Kennedy, of Thornville, and Mitchell (Becky) Kennedy, of Louisville, Ky.; stepchildren, Dr. William (Nancy) Miller, of Lancaster, and Molly Miller Kennedy, of Thornville; sister, Mary Ruth (Paul) Forsythe, of Rushville; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Jacks; brother, Edwin Kennedy; and granddaughter, Kerri Beth Kennedy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 56 S. Main St., Thornville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dewey Kennedy's honor to the South Shore Ministries, 8335 Township Road 391 NW, Thornville, OH 43076.
