Memorial fund to support Baltimore Safety Day

After my father's death in 2000, I formed the Robert C. Kalish Memorial Youth Park Program Fund to help provide for a free summer camp for Liberty Union-Thurston School District youth. My late father served the FairfieldCounty education community by serving as principal of Liberty Union High School, superintendent of Walnut Township Schools and later became FairfieldCounty Schools superintendent.

This fund will be used in June to help fund Baltimore Police Chief Michael Tussey's Baltimore Safety Day on June 28. It's open to all Baltimore area children and will be held at the Liberty Union Elementary School. Chief Tussey's plans for the Safety Day include bicycle registration, an educational puppet show, a stranger danger talk, firesafety and free food.

I am planning an annual golf outing later in the year to raise funds for the Robert C. Kalish Memorial Youth Park Program fund that will help fund future Safety Days. Contributions can be made to the Robert C. Kalish Youth Park Program fund in care of the FairfieldCounty Foundation, 162 E. Main St., P.O. Box 159, Lancaster, OH 43130.

As one former coworker of my late father said, "Your father loved children and this is an appropriate way to keep his educational legacy alive." Bob Kalish Baltimore
