Liberty Township hopes to cut insurance costs
      BALTIMORE - Liberty Township may trade its Cadillac for a Chevy. Liberty Township Trustee Nancy Montell has described the township's existing health insurance plan as a "Cadillac" with no deductible. Monday night, Frank Herman of the Ohio Insurance Service Agency presented the trustees with three plans that could save the township $9,600 or even $17,000 per year.

Trustees hold back fire/EMS funds due Millersport
      MILLERSPORT - "It's not their (trustees') money, It's not our money. It's the people's money," Millersport Council member Gary Matheny said during the May 13 council meeting. Matheny's comments came during a discussion about Walnut Township's short payment for fire/EMS services provided by the Millersport Fire Department. Walnut Township paid Millersport $128,687.

      KIRKERSVILLE - Watch your speed! Kirkersville's police department is back in operation after shutting down for a week following the resignation of former Police Chief Robert Chamberlain. May 14, the Kirkersville Village Council named Kirkersville Sgt. Chris Martin as temporary police chief until the village names Chamberlain's permanent replacement.

Cortez friend freed on $50,000 bond
      NEWARK- Noel Joyce, a Glenford resident accused of aiding former Buckeye Lake Village Council member John Cortez, was released from the Licking County Justice Center on $50,000 bond Monday. He was arraigned Friday afternoon at the justice center, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of third degree felonious perjury and fifth degree felonious obstruction of justice.
