Mildred V. Cross

Mildred "Tootie" Cross, age 87 of Heath, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at her great niece's

Tootie was born April 27, 1921, in Parkersburg, West Viriginia, to the late James R. and Myrtle R. (Byers) Small of Buckeye Lake. She was the oldest of 12 children and played a very big role in her siblings upbringing. They knew her as their wee-mommy as well as their sister. Tootie was a homemaker who loved camping and gardening. She was a member of Moose Lodge #499.

She is survived by two sisters; one brother; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,


Cecil N. Cross; six brothers, two sisters; several brother and sister-in-laws; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, May 16, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 108 North 7th St., Hebron. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road SE, Newark, Ohio 43055-9925.
