John H. Eskins

A celebration of life service for John H. Eskins, 56, of Glenford, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Licking County Veteran's Alliance providing military honors.

Mr. Eskins was born in Montgomery, W.Va., on March 12, 1952, to Leo H. Eskins, of Newark, and the late Kathleen G. (Lowe) Eskins. He passed away on April 26, 2008, at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Eskins proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he bred and sold German Shepherds and he and his wife owned and operated Joril Kennels. He enjoyed fishing and was a dog lover, but most important in his life was his family. He was a proud, devoted father to his son, Josh. John enjoyed participating with Josh's activities, especially as his bowling coach.

In addition to his father, survivors include his son, Josh Eskins, of Glenford; wife, April (Kathary) Eskins, of Glenford; sister, Linda (William) Stewart, of Newark; four brothers, Billy (Kathleen) Eskins- McCarthy, of Westerville, Terry (Janet) Eskins, of Newark, Tommy Eskins, of Sunbury, and J.D. Eskins, of Newark; sisters-in-law, Kerry Kathary, of Newark, and Coreen Walker, of Thornville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory, in c/o the family, to help with funeral expenses.
