Leroy D. Beougher

A memorial service celebrating the life of Leroy D. Beougher, 79, of Hebron, was held April 29, 2008, in the chapel of the Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with the Rev. Robert Knox officiating. Private family burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Logan, at a later date.

Leroy died Saturday evening at home following an extended illness.

He was born July 2, 1928, in Logan, the son of the late Roy D. and Ethel Marie Griffin Beougher. He was a graduate of Logan High School Class of 1946. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. He was an employee of Kaiser Aluminum, Heath, for almost 40 years, retiring in 1990. Leroy loved vegetable gardening, watching sports on TV and playing cards, especially euchre. He was a member of the Kaiser retirees association and the 55+ club in Hebron and was a former member of the Blooming Buckeyes round and square dance club.

On December 28, 1950 he married the former Dorothy Lacey, who survives him along with their children: Donald E. Beougher, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Bonnie Pace, of Newark; Rodger (Jenny) Beougher, of Newark; Penny (Doug) Sellars, of Newark; Lynda Harper, of Newark; Timothy Beougher, of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his sisters Mae Taulbee, Monabell Cottrill, Betty (Harold) Johnson, Rosie (Terry) McQuaid, all of Logan; Delores (Kenneth) Starr, of Pataskala; his sister-in-law Violet Beougher, of Sandy Lake, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Jim.
