Some flooding relief work could get started this year
      BUCKEYE LAKE - The March 18-19 rain that lead to the closure of I-70 eastbound lanes wasn't particularly noteworthy. Julia Dian-Reed of the National Weather Service's Wilmington officesaid roughly 2.25 to 2.75 inches of rain fell during the nearly 48 hour event. That puts it somewhere between a once every two to fiveyear event.

Close, but no water deal yet
      BUCKEYE LAKE- Buckeye Lake Village is much closer to having a public water system, but the cigar's not lit quite yet. Buckeye Lake Village Council members approved several ordinances and resolutions Monday night, which prepare the village to receive grants and loans toward paying for the design of a public water distribution system.

Dodd sets town meeting
      BUCKEYE LAKE - State Representative Dan Dodd (D-Hebron) will hold a local town hall meeting on Wednesday, April 2 to discuss current events regarding state government. The meetings is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Village of Buckeye Lake officeson Walnut Road (Ohio 79). The public is invited.

No sunshine in Walnut Township
      No, we're not writing about our dreary winter weather. This is about the lack of legally mandated sunshine in Walnut Township government. Last Wednesday, a Beacon reporter made a simple public records request for a copy of a letter from Union Township Trustees to the Walnut Township Zoning Commission. The letter was commenting on a proposed zoning change.

Cross carriers circle lake
      LAKE AREA- Tom Gill calls it a "silent sermon." The pastor of The Gathering, FairfieldBeach's non-denominational church, spent a good part of Good Friday helping several people take shifts dragging a large wooden cross completely around Buckeye Lake. The walk began at 6 a.m. and lasted well into the afternoon.
