Sheriff thanks voters for support

Many thanks to the voters in the recent primary for their show of support, not only of me, but the men and women of the FairfieldCounty Sheriff's Office.I also wish to thank everyone for their calls and e-mails of support of this office.

It is a pleasure to have a spirit of cooperation among the other law enforcement agencies, civic organizations and members of the private sector. Providing the best possible service and keeping FairfieldCounty a safe and secure community will continue to be my number one priority. The safety of any community is very dependent upon citizen involvement. Our Mobile Community Watch Program continues to grow. By 2009, we will have over 200 citizens proving extra eyes and ears for our deputies.

Neighbors looking out for neighbors during our recent snow emergency were a perfect illustration of community involvement. Watching snow plow drivers, firedepartments, law enforcement agencies, tow truck operators and volunteers working together to help keep our community safe was encouraging. Our Communication Center was inundated with calls throughout the storm while continuing to provide excellent service. Deputies worked extended hours to keep our roadways safe and respond to emergency calls.

I feel the best years are ahead for FairfieldCounty and it is an honor to be your sheriff. Dave Phalen Sheriff of FairfieldCounty
