Neighbors working together raise funds for group

Editor:

A most successful fundraiser was held on Saturday, March 15 at the Millersport Lions Clubhouse benefitingthe Buckeye Lake Youth Association efforts to purchase new waffle making equipment lost in an arson fireon December 26. The Beacon encouraged its loyal readers to support the Easter Waffle Breakfast and they did by huge numbers raising over $1,000 in just a few hours.

The Millersport Lions Club and the Buckeye Lake Youth Association sincerely appreciate everyone that attended, ate breakfast, and got a photo with the Easter Bunny. This joint project by two neighboring communities is a fineexample of the goodwill and cooperation that exists around the lake and what can be accomplished through volunteerism and team work.

Additional funds are needed to purchase equipment essential to making those delicious Buckeye Lake Wafflesthat have become a staple of the Sweet Corn Festival. Donations will be gladly accepted by Marge Schultz and the rest of the BLYA waffle making team up until the festival opens on August 27.

Happy Easter to all! Ron Keller General Chairman Sweet Corn Festival, Inc.
