BUCKEYE LAKE - Ironically, it's National Flood Safety Awareness Week. Melting snow and continual rain brought another flood to Buckeye Lake Village and its surrounding areas Wednesday. As of 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the eastbound exit ramp from I-70 to SR 79 south was closed to traffic and the Licking River's rising waters threatened to close I-70 entirely by nightfall. Sandbags were stacked along Sellers Point as waters lapped the bottom of the SR 360 bridge. The Buckeye Lake Estates mobile home park experienced severe flooding, as did the KOA campground. The forecast called for more rain and snow into Wednesday night.
