Former OSU star to speak at Millersport

MILLERSPORT - Former Buckeye defensive tackle, Joel Penton, will be making a stop in Millersport on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. to address the community at Millersport High School.

He will be joined by musician and performer Ryan Holliday. The two have been traveling all across Ohio on their year-long "Stand Your Ground" tour.

A 2006 graduate of OSU, Penton was a member of three Big Ten championship teams and one national championship team. Penton played in 38 straight games for the Buckeyes. In hissenior year he recorded a sack in the 2006 victory over Michigan which gave Ohio State their first outright Big Ten Championship since 1984.

In 2006 Penton received the prestigious Danny Wuerffel Trophy, also known as the "Humanitarian Heisman." The trophy recognizes the nation's college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

In his time at Ohio State, Penton was a four-time varsity letter winner as well as a four-time- Academic All-Big Ten selection. He was also chosen to play in the 2007 Hula Bowl.

Penton is currently the Community Director for the Central Ohio Fellowship of Christian Athletes and frequently travels the country as a full-time speaker.

Doors open at the high school at 6 p.m., with pizza being served at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
