Another Letter: Writer upset with campaign sign switch

Editor:

My husband is the hospital. I came home recently and saw that our Ball for Sheriff sign had been removed from our Lake Shore Drive home and replaced with a Phalen sign. I was livid! I immediately called the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number and asked for a deputy to take a report. A deputy came and took a report.

The Phalen sign was placed in the right of way which isn't permitted. I have the right to choose which candidate to support. Sheriff Phalen and his committee violated my rights. They were trespassing and took an item from my property.

Do you want to CONTINUE with a sheriff here at FairfieldBeach that doesn't understand what all we need. He did not bother coming to the meeting himself when we scheduled the meeting to talk with the concerned residents. I think it is time for Darrell Ball who has spent years as an deputy, is honest, and much more capable and certainly will not use such tactics to gain publicity. If you have a sign in your yard and did not ask for a Phalen sign, you have the right to make your choice. I know Darrell Ball personally called me as I wanted my sign returned. He came out and when I got home from the hospital my sign was replaced. I never got an apology from Phalen. I would not accept one now if he offered one. Lee Pritchard FairflieldBeach
