Tykes Program: Groundhogs, Whistlepigs and Woodchucks- Saturday, February 16, 10 a.m. - noon. Bring an adult and meet this native species of Ohio to findout what they do, who they are and why they have been so successful in raising their families here. Examine preserved specimens and make a craft to take home. $5/$3 members, reservation required, meet at the Zand Education Center.

Feeling burned out? Is anxiety overwhelming your life? - Denison University, Granville. Learn all about the theoretical implications of stress and how to cope with it. Susan Folkman, an internationally recognized professor of medicine from the University of California, San Francisco will speak about "Beyond Stress: Positive Emotions and the Stress Process," at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, in the Burton Morgan Auditorium (150 Ridge Road). The lecture is free and open to the public.
The Craft of Writing - OSUNewark. Lee K. Abbott, will read from his work and speak on the craft of writing on Wednesday, February 13 at 7:30 pm in Hopewell Hall, room 66. Abbott is the author of six collections of short fiction, including the St. Lawrence Award-winning "The Heart Never Fits Its Wanting" and the highly praised "Love Is the Crooked Thing." Author Tony D'Souza - Denison University, Granville. Author Tony D'Souza will discuss his award-winning novel "Whiteman," along with his other fiction writing. D'Souza will be speaking on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m. in the Barney-Davis Board Room (200 West Loop.) The discussion is free and open to the public.
"Feminism in War, Feminism in Peace" - Denison University, Granville. Spike Peterson, professor of political science at the University of Arizona, will present her lecture entitled "Gendered Economies of War" at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Burton Morgan lecture hall (150 Ridge Road). The event is free and open to the public.
Double Reed Day - Denison Universisty, Granville. The musical spotlight will shine on bassoons, oboes and English horns, the trio of often-neglected double reed instruments, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Burke Recital Hall (240 West Broadway) and Burton Hall (241 West College). The event is free and open to the public.
C&W Association - Newark. The Newark Chapter of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association meets Sunday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m. in the Grotto Hall on Waterworks Road.
