James Douglas Dutcher

A funeral service for James Douglas Dutcher, 52, of Glenford, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, Thornville, with Pastor Dave Helser officiating. Burial will be at Millersport Cemetery.

James passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 13, 1955, in Lancaster, to James R. and the late Barbara Jean (Hempleman) Dutcher. Jim was well-known and respected in the area of archaeology and was published and quoted by many in his field. He was fascinated with Native American history and German history, especially the World War II era, an avid collector of all items pertaining to both. Jim served as a Licking County Sheriff's Officedeputy for a few years, worked more than 30 years for the Gardner family in their various grocery operations and most recently worked with his son managing Dutcher Property Services LLC. Jim loved his farm, where he was a master forester and avid hunter.

He is survived by his father, James; son, Eric, of the home; and daughter, Kristen, of Reynoldsburg.
