A graveside service for Bert Hughes, 76, of Glenford, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, in Somerset Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58.
Bert died at 4:08 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Autumn Healthcare of Newark.
Bert was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Red Jacket, W.Va., the son of the late Luther and Cordelia McKenry Hughes.
Bert was a Korean ConflictNavy veteran. He worked construction most of his life.
Surviving are four daughters, Sheralyn Detty, of Millersport, Debra Drake, of Somerset, Jeretta Love, of Thornville, and Polly Carr, of Pleasantville; two sons, Robert Hughes, of San Antonio, and Ronald Hughes, of Somerset; 13 grandchildren, Angelia, Kerry, Heather, Meagan, Kristin, Zachary, A.J., Jacob, Shawna, Chase, Joshua, Amanda and Dallas; four great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Scarlett, Jasmine and Ava; one brother, Raymond Hughes; and two sisters, Doris Baysinger and Mary Dedmond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Hughes (1971); two brothers, James and Willis; and two sisters, Evelyn and Bessy.
No calling hours will be observed.
