Beman Dawes Young
A graveside service for Beman Dawes Young, 80, of Indianapolis, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at The Dawes Arboretum, 7770 Jacksontown Road, Newark.
Mr. Young passed away Jan. 6, 2008, in Indianapolis. He was born June 19, 1927, in Columbus, to David H. and Dorothy (Dawes) Young.
A graduate of The Ohio State University, Beman enjoyed a career in food and vending service. He was a founding partner of Pride Complete Vending Service. His hobby of building log cabins has left several log homes in the southern Indiana woods. He was a longtime trustee of The Dawes Arboretum and a past president of the Descendants of William Dawes Who Rode Association.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Patricia C. (Campbell) Young; son, Timothy C. Young; daughter, Teresa A. Young; granddaughter, Amanda C. Jones (Christopher); grandson, Timothy M. Young; great-grandson, Blake J. Jones; and sister, Dorothy Y. Mann.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David H. Young Jr.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville.
