Steven M. Crossin

A funeral service for Steven M. Crossin, 57, of near Somerset was held January 8, 2008, at Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, Somerset, with Rick Cline officiating. Burial was in Zion Ridge Cemetery near Thornville.

Steven died Friday evening of an apparent heart attack while on duty for the Perry County Sheriff's Office.

He was born July 1, 1950, in Columbus, and was raised in Thornville, the son of Mary Binckley Crossin, of Somerset, and the late Robert Crossin (1985).

Steven was a graduate of Sheridan High School and was a Vietnam-era Army veteran. He worked 26 years in law enforcement in Perry County, working for Thornville, Somerset, Corning and most recently with the Perry County Sheriff's Office.He was a member of the F.O.P. and was an avid fisherman, which he enjoyed doing with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Suzette Wells Crossin, of the home; two sons and a daughter, Travis (T.J.) Crossin, of Thornville, Tina (Adam) Potts, of Middle Island, N.Y., and Jeremy Crossin, of the home; was Papaw to two granddaughters, Alexandria and Sascha Potts; one uncle and aunt, Walter and Alice Binckley, and their son, Steve, of Thornville.
