Buckeye Lake Christmas Celebration will return
The Christmas Holiday has come and gone for another year and as we usher in 2008 it is good to reflectback on the year and give thanks to the residents, volunteers and businesses that once again enjoyed the Buckeye Lake Community Christmas Celebration at the Buckeye Lake State Park.
Our second annual celebration was the first weekend in December. Volunteers set up lights, decorations, tents and food tables under the guidance of Mary Morrison of Foxies Jewelry. Santa was there handing out gifts while committee persons Rachel Powell and Cathy Jones served hot dogs off the grill, along with hot chocolate provided by Roman Pallone from Smitty's.
Dance Explosion thrilled the crowd with tap dancing and the Lakewood Middle School Choir braved the weather to sing a medley of Christmas Songs to the audience. Over 200 people came out that weekend and left with community pride, an armful of presents and candy from area merchants.
It does a person good to join in on a special event that welcomes everyone no matter what. This is a bond of sorts that enables a community to become strong. Events such as this bring us- lake- folk together, making us proud of what we have here around this beautiful lake.
People should be recognized for what they give and the Christmas Committee would like to thank the following for their involvement in celebration. Next Christmas it will be even bigger, with a much larger tent!!!
