Lakewood looking at levy

HEBRON - Lakewood school board members will meet in special session on Monday, Feb. 5, where they could pass a resolution that would be the first step to putting a levy on the May ballot.

Lakewood Superintendent Jay Gault said the district has an emergency levy going off the books - a 5-year, 5.8-mill levy - that generates $2.058 million annually for the district.

Gault said the board is exploring possibly asking for a renewal of that current levy, plus slight additional millage.

Deadline for placing a levy on the May ballot is Feb. 22.

The Feb. 5 meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library.

"The public is encouraged to come to that meeting and findout what's going on," Gault said.

He went on to explain that meeting will be an opportunity for the board and public alike to examine millage rates and property valuations, which are being worked out with the Licking County Auditor's Officein the week preceding the meeting.
