Gordon D. Soland
Gordon D. Soland, 77, of Nelsonville, formerly of Baltimore, died Nov. 28, 2007, at his residence.
He was a retired maintenance man for DuPont Corp. with 37 years of service and a Korean Conflictveteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and deacon at the church, retired member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union and a former Baltimore volunteer fireman.
He is survived by his sons, Dean R. Soland of Nelsonville, Dennis A. (Sue) Soland of Lancaster, David G. Soland of Amanda and Danny H.J. (Priscilla) Soland of Lancaster; daughters, Donna K. (Gary) Carney of Toledo, Darla L. Soland of Nelsonville and Jana Porter of Nelsonville; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brothers, Merle Soland of Fridley, Minn. and Lawrence (Grace) Soland of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma J. Soland in 2004; his parents, H.J. and Clara Soland; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Soland.
Services were December 3, 2007, at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Pastor Michael Herbert officiating.
Burial followed in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites at the cemetery.
