Irene Katherine Denison

A funeral service for Irene Katherine Denison, 97, formerly of Glenford, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Grace Lutheran Church in Thornville, with Pastor Jeff Morlock officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Glenford.

Irene passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at Pataskala Oaks Nursing Home, Pataskala. She was born Nov. 1, 1910, to the late Homer Calvin and Gertrude (Gordon) Mechling. She graduated from Glenford Hopewell Township High School and Capital University. She taught elementary school at Stockbergers Madison Rural, Thornville and Glenford for a total of 28 years. Irene was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville, Perry County Retired Teachers, former member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Glenford Garden Club and Farm Bureau Council 1-G.

Irene is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane (Ron) Sterrett, of New Carlisle; one son and daughterin law, Tom (Linda) Denison, of Pataskala; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-inlaw, Ruth Mechling; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob "Robert" Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Floyd Denison, in August 1992; sister, Evelyn Foucht; brothers, Harold, Eugene, Carl, Ralph and Bernard Mechling.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church.
