Kalish outlines plans for next term
I'm running for reelection as mayor of Baltimore. Here's my thoughts on the issues facing Baltimore.
I will continue to make police protection a priority. When I was first elected mayor in 2000, all police department positions were part-time. With council's support, we now have two full-time officersincluding the chief. While Baltimore, for the most part, is a safe community, we must be prepared to protect our residents and businesses. I work with Chief Tussey to add another full-time position in 2008. Future plans include a D.A.R.E. officerin Liberty Union Schools and implementing an internet predator program that helps parents keep their children safe on the internet.
As Mayor, we have implemented a proactive growth plan than includes updating our zoning ordinance, development standards and starting a residential/commercial building department. I will also continue to pursue economic development opportunities.
I would appreciate your continued support on Nov. 6.
Robert Michael Kalish Mayor of Baltimore
