Dorothy Irene Williams
Dorothy Irene Williams, age 90, formerly of Thornville, passed away October 9, 2007, at Crestview Nursing & Rehab. Center in Lancaster.
She was born on August 25, 1917, to Lee E. and Mary Olive (Bradshaw) Coble. She was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Glenford, and present member of Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville, where she was a past church officesecretary, helped in church renovations, assisted in church quilting, and was a dedicated Lutheran. She was a member of Carnation C.C.L., Mother's Club from the club's beginning until it became inactive.
She graduated from Glenford High School. Following high school, she worked in a restaurant in Thornville and also worked as a domestic housekeeper for local people. She worked in domestic housekeeping until World War II began. During the war, she worked at Owens-Corning in Newark. She was a beautiful seamstress creating clothing and household items for her family and the community and surrounding communities.
Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Charles K. Williams of 67 years; daughter, Carolyn (Ron) Kummer of Lancaster; grandchildren, Kristin Kummer of Clintonville, Ohio, Kelly Kummer of Blacklick, Ohio, Shannon (Paul) Hill of Zanesville, Michelle Williams of Glenford, Andrea Williams and Steven Williams of Thornville; great-grandson, Lucas Hill and great-step grandson, Zack Hill of Zanesville; and sister, Esther (Coble) Worley of Newark. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Mary Olive Coble; brother, Paul Coble; sister in-law, Mabel Coble; brother, Donald; brother-in-law, George B. Worley; son, Charles L. Williams; and daughter-in-law, Terri (Sidwell) Williams.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, October 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 56 South Main Street, Thornville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Morlock officiating, at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, Pataskala, and Crestview Nursing and Rehab., Lancaster, Ohio.
