Olive M. Hager
Services for Olive M. Hager, 94, of Thornville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville, with Pastor Jeff Morlock officiating. Entombment will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Olive died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Heartland FairfieldCare Center. Olive was born May 15, 1913, near Thornville, the daughter of the late Lewis Anthony and Ada Blanche Hodge Saum. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a retired dairy farmer and homemaker.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen (Mark) Ricketts, of Thornville; two sons, Ret. Lt. Col. Gilbert Jr. (Sandy) Hager, of Summerville S.C., and Dale E. Hager, of Gahanna; a foster daughter, Mary (Arthur) Wilson, of Thornville; fivegrandchildren, Kim Ricketts, Heather Yakes, Todd Hager, Kelly Holmes and Christopher Hager; five great-grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; Diane Briggs, Wayne and Ed Wilson; one sister, Helen Haugan, of Thornville; many nieces and nephews; and a special classmate, Grace Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gilbert Hager on July 27, 1988; two brothers, Chester Saum and Ralph A. Saum; and two sisters, Irene Taylor and Leona Detwiler.
