Joseph Merit Thomas

A funeral service celebrating the life of Joseph Merit Thomas, 91 of Heath, formerly of Thornville, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Tom Gill officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Canal Winchester.

Joe died early Tuesday morning, in Heath, following an extended illness.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio, on December 14, 1915, and served honorably in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the 1st Division, 26th Infantry.

He was a member of the VFW Post 1388 of Buckeye Lake.

He is survived by his children, Shirley Frost of Grove City, Judy (Mike) Houston of Lockborne, Joan Thomas of Hebron, Joe (Patty) Thomas of Millersport and Rick (Betty) Thomas of Galloway; his 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, in 1988; and his brother and sister.

His family will gather on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 at the funeral home, 285 East Main St in Kirkersville, where an on-line guest register and video tribute is available at www.hoskinsonfuneral. com.
