William Donald Park

A funeral mass celebrating the life of William Donald Park, 74, of Buckeye Lake was held August 29, 2007, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Buckeye Lake, with Msgr. Frank J Meagher as celebrant. Full military honors followed. Private family burial will take place on August 31 at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Don died early Saturday morning at his home, following an extended illness. He was born in Glouster, on April 21, 1933, the son of the late William Vernon and Lindle Ray Park. He served honorably in the US Navy 1950-1953 in Korea, and worked for many years as an industrial engineer for ABB/North American.

He was a member of the VFW Post 8794 of Whitehall, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Knights of Columbus #13779 of Buckeye Lake, Eagles 2801 of Buckeye Lake, Aladdin Temple Shrine and Masonic Lodge of Reynoldsburg.

He enjoyed fishing, playing and watching golf.

On April 16, 1955, he married the former Norma Jean Connel, who survives along with his children, William (Susan) of Buckeye Lake, Debbie (Charles) Smith of Pataskala, Wyatt (Tawnja) of Columbus, Donnie (Diana) of Pataskala, Donnata Joan (Ray) Nutt of Pataskala and Richard (Amber) of Hebron, and Rick of Columbus; his 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Tom (Donna) of Houston, PA and Louis (Joan) Mason of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Park; and two sisters, Janet Ringheisen and JoAnn Mercer..
