911 Memorial walking parade set

LIEBS ISLAND - The Lieb's Island Civic Association is sponsoring its 6th annual 911 Memorial Walking Parade as a tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The parade begins at the Maple Avenue stop sign at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The procession will make a .75 mile loop of the island, rain or shine. Walkers may start anytime, stop anytime.

Debi Popo, a founding member of the civic association, will lead the parade as Grand Marshal. Children, bikes, golf carts, wagons, and whatever are welcome.

Candy, pop, water and flags will be passed out as long as supplies last. Everyone is invited to a picnic in Huffman Park immediately following the parade. Parking is available at the Lieb's Island boat ramps, walking onto the island.
