Alzheimer's caregiver classes set

NEWARK - The Carol Strawn Center, a United Way Partner Agency serving Licking County families affected by Alzheimer's and related dementias, holds monthly caregiver classes for family members that provide care for someone with a dementia.

"Our classes are designed to help family caregivers to broaden their knowledge about dementia, to give practical care giving tips and to provide support through fellowship with other family caregivers," said the Center's Family Care Planning Coordinator Susan Dawid.

The next class, "Alzheimer's Wandering: Understanding and Preventing It," will be offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29 at the Carol Strawn Center, 126 West Church St., Newark.

Dawid invites all Licking County caregivers of a family member who has Alzheimer's or a related dementia to attend this educational presentation that will focus on the benefits of respite services and local availability of respite services.

The class is free but pre-registration is requested to ensure adequate educational materials are available. To register or findout more about the center's educational and adult day services or request a speaker for your club or organization, call (740) 345- 5190.
