Perry County setting up medical reserve corps
NEW LEXINGTON - The Perry County Health Department and the Perry County Emergency Management Agency have established the Perry County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).
The Corps is a communitybased network of volunteers that assists public health efforts in times of special need or disaster. The health department is currently seeking volunteers who are licensed medical professionals such as physicians, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, state tested nursing assistants, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, administrative assistants, and students to staff emergency clinic sites throughout Perry County. These volunteers may be asked to perform such duties as administering vaccine or medication, screening and monitoring patients, and supporting the overall operation of the health department during an emergency.
Two meetings have been set to register volunteers and to discuss the teams. Both are on Tuesday, August 14 at the New Lexington Senior Center. The first is at 9 a.m. and the second is at 7 p.m.
