Parking to be restricted in The Woods
      JACKSONTOWN - Licking Township Trustees and residents of The Woods at Buckeye Lake agreed Monday night to enact parking restrictions in the subdivision. Residents have been complaining for over a month about patrons of Captain Woody's parking in the subdivision and then creating disturbances when the bar closes in the early morning hours.

Survey says…Liberty Township results announced
      BALTIMORE- Liberty Township Zoning Board of Appeals member Ron Galliher asked the trustees Monday night to place the results of a 2006 township-wide survey on the township's web site. Galliher prepared the results of the survey, which was designed by Burns, Bertsch, and Harris, Inc., a Columbus based community planning firm. The trustees agreed to place the results on www.

Kirkersville close to deal with district for public water
      KIRKERSVILLE- Is a deal for public water between the Village of Kirkersville and the Southwest Licking Community Water and Sewer District drawing near? SWLCWSD General Manager Donald Rector is optimistic. "The district would like to see this move forward in a timely manner," he said.

West Nile Virus found in Licking County
      NEWARK - The first evidence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Licking County was detected in a dead bird found in Newark Township, the Licking County Health Department said last week. This is the first week in 2007 that any WNV infected birds, including one from Licking County and two from Lucas County, have been identified in Ohio.

Perry County setting up medical reserve corps
      NEW LEXINGTON - The Perry County Health Department and the Perry County Emergency Management Agency have established the Perry County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). The Corps is a communitybased network of volunteers that assists public health efforts in times of special need or disaster.

ODOT checking Ohio bridges
      COLUMBUS - In the wake of the tragic collapse of the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis, Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director James Beasley has asked ODOT's bridge engineers to review inspection reports on state-controlled bridges designed similarly to the failed Minnesota bridge.

Karen Keller named Hartford Fair Queen
      CROTON - Karen Keller, who hails from the Hebron/ Kirkersville area, was crowned Hartford Fair Queen last Saturday night. Keller, the 19-year-old daughter of Jerry and Sue Keller, is a graduate of Watkins Memorial High School. She is currently studying digital media design at COTC.

Laker PTO Fundraising
     MILLERSPORT - Two years of fundraising came together on Saturday, July 21 for the Laker PTO. Thanks to parents, students and the Millersport community, volunteers installed new playground equipment, including a multi-level play structure, two basketball goals, several picnic tables and benches. The volunteers, including the Laker Varsity Football team, worked under the direction of Mike Washburn, district maintenance supervisor, and Ken Schmithorst of Walnut Grove Playgrounds. Gator Country
     'GATOR COUNTRY- Granted, it's been as hot as the Florida Everglades recently, but have alligators invaded Hebron? Village officials hope geese think so. This fake alligator head and an identical counterpart float in the stormwater retention pond near the U.S. 40 and Ohio 79 interchange to ward off Canada geese. So far, it's working. 28th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show
     The 28th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show returns to Buckeye Lake Yacht Club August 10-12. As always, the show is open to the public. There is no admission or parking fees. Featured boats include Chris Craft, Lyman, Penn Yan, Century and Meteor. Boats are available for public viewing Friday night through Sunday morning. Boats are available Friday evening after 6 p.m. with most owners and judges available to answer questions. Dinner is available at the yacht club and the public is invited to enjoy dinner and live entertainment. Boats are judged Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and available for public viewing all day long. Lunch is available through the afternoon and with live entertainment. A dinner buffet is served at the club Saturday evening. Baltimore Festival Grand Parade
     The Baltimore Festival's Grand Parade starts moving east on Ohio 256 toward Johnson Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. The Festival opened Wednesday with the Little Miss Baltimore and Miss Baltimore Festival pageants. Teen Night with Johnny Garber is 8-10 p.m. Thursday with Woody Phillips appearing 8-10 p.m. Friday. The cruise-in begins at 4 p.m. on Friday with Johnny Garber, D. J. The 5K Road Race, with registration beginning at 7 a.m., takes off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The National Kiddie Tractor Pull returns from 1- 3 p.m. Saturday. Saturday night entertainment features "Swings the Thing" big band from 5 to 7 p.m. and the classic rock of "Wolf Mode" from 8-11 p.m. The Grand Prize drawing is at 11 p.m. Rides, games and carnival food are available Wednesday through Saturday.
