Alicemae McManus, 88 of Baltimore, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Crestview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on September 1, 1918, in Wilber, NE to the late Anton and Emma Vosika Shimonek, Jr. She was a graduate of Wilber High School, Class of 1936 and attended Peru State Teachers College in Peru, NE. On August 14, 1938, she married Robert McManus in Wilber, NE then moved to Ohio in June 1941. She was widowed on May 11, 1989.
She was a member of Peace United Methodist Church, Olivedale Senior Citizens Center, and Pickerington Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Fred) Gassmann of SC, Therese Mc- Manus of AK and Joy Harris of HI; three sons, Gene (Dixie) Mc- Manus of Baltimore, Dale (Marleen) McManus of Lancaster, and Chris McManus of Baltimore; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Yonkey of NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Richard Scott McManus; her parents; three brothers, Charles, George, and Fred Shimonek; and a sister, Anne Kucera.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Peace United Methodist Church in Pickerington, with Rev. James Riggs officiating. Caring Cremation has taken place by the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Baltimore. Friends may visit one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday.
