Mearle E. Bannister

A funeral service for Mearle E. Bannister, age 84, of Jacksontown, was held June 12 at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta Funeral & Cremation Service with Ray Linn officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery.

Mr. Bannister, a Merchant Marine who served during WW II, died June 8, 2007, at Arlington Care Center. He was born August 26, 1922, in Youngstown, to the late Vance and Mary (Atherton) Bannister - Daniels.

Mr. Bannister was a retired Transportation Director and Maintenance Supervisor for the Lakewood Schools. He was a active member of the Heath Church of Christ. Mr. Bannister was an avid bowler, horseshoe pitcher and sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. (Currence) Bannister of Newark; two daughters, Diana Drumm and Vicki (Randy) Shaw, both of Jacksontown; fivegrandchildren, Douglas (Machel) Pearl, Deborah Pearl, Zac (Lindsay Criblez) Shaw, U.S.M.C. Sgt. Gabe (Crystal) Shaw and Levi Shaw; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
