Rare disorder benefit set for June 20

BUCKEYE LAKE - A benefit dinner for Ryan Miller is set for 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 at CatfishCharley's.

Ryan is the son of Toby and Missy Miller of Buckeye Lake. He was born with a genetic disorder called Non Ketotic Hyperglycinemia. Ryan is the only living person in Ohio with this disorder. His parents were told at birth that he wouldn't live longer than a month. Ryan will be seven years old a week after the benefit.

The Millers are part of an international network of families who have children with this disorder. The group meets every two years. The Millers are the hosts for the next group meeting which will be June 22-24 in Reynoldsburg. Families and doctors who specialize in the treatment (there is no cure) will be attending.

Proceeds from the benefit will be used to help pay the expenses of other families to this very helpful and informational weekend. Call 928-5553 for more information about the benefit. Additional information about the disorder is available at www.nkh-network. org.
