Making a Splash! Local pools open for the summer

MILLERSPORT, THORNVILLE, BALTIMORE- Nothing says "school's out" like spending a sunny day at the pool. Local public pools were packed with people working the beat the heat this week. Millersport Pool owner Dan Hill said he's trying to give back to his community by sponsoring several pool parties throughout the summer. Hill said his pool is open Monday through Saturday noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 8 p.m. Swim lessons begin June 18, memberships are availableand daily admission--for everyone, not just Millersport residents--is $4 per day.

Thornville's pool was a popular place Monday as local school children enjoyed the early days of summer freedom. Like the Millersport pool, anyone is welcome to enjoy the Thornville Pool, whose hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 8 p.m. Pool manager Candy Wolfe said the Thornville Pool will also have several pool parties throughout the summer. Daily rates are $5 for adults, $4 for students, and toddlers under 1 year old are free. The Thornville pool also offers family and individual memberships, and can be rented for private parties up to 200 people.

Baltimore pool's daily admission--from opening until 5 p.m.-- is $1.50 ages five and under, $3 ages six to 11, $4 ages 12 to 49,

and $3 ages 50 and

up. Daily admission from 5 p.m. until closing remains $1.50 for ages fiveand under, but everyone else is $2. Membership rates for village residents are $80 for singles and $210 for families; out-of-town rates are $130 for singles and $260 for families.
