Mel Tillis to appear at Sweet Corn Festival

MILLERSPORT - Country music legend Mel Tillis will appear in concert on Friday, August 31, 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, September 1, 8:30 p.m., country music rising star, Mark Wills, will perform on the same stage as this year's headliners for the 61st Sweet Corn Festival. Both feature shows are free to the public.

Mel Tillis has written over 1,000 songs and major artists have recorded approximately 600 of them. A few of these songs are: Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town by Kenny Rogers, Emotions by Brenda Lee, Burning Memories by Ray Price, Honey Open That Door by Ricky Skaggs, and Thoughts of a Fool by George Strait. Mel has had 36 Top Ten singles, with nine going to Number #1 Good Woman Blues, Coca Cola Cowboy, and Southern Rain to mention a few.

Mark Wills was the Academy of Country Music's top new male artist in 1999 and has had a string of Top 10 hits such as Jacob's Ladder, Places I've Never Been, I Do Cherish You, Don't Laugh at Me, Wish You Were Here, She's in Love, and Back at One.
