Boating classes set

MILLERSPORT - The 8- hour Ohio Boating Education Course will be offered on Saturday, March 10 at the Division of Watercraft's Buckeye Lake officein Millersport.

The Ohio Boating Education Course covers state and federal laws, navigational rules fo the road and basic boating safety practices.

The course meets Ohio's boating education requirement which applies to anyone born after Jan. 1, 1982, before they can operate a boat with greater than 10 horsepower. The course also may qualify boaters for a discount on boat owner's insurance. Cost is $5 and preregistration is required.

A special Getting Underway class is set from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. It will cover basic knots, trailering, launching and retrieving a boat, docking and bowing off. Participants must have completed a boating education course. Cost is $10 and preregistration is required.
