Financial aid help available Feb. 11

NEWARK - Applying for financial aid beyond high school can often be complicated, confusing, and even intimidating to college-bound students.

College Goal Sunday, a free program that helps students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), will be held statewide on Sunday, February 11, at 2:00 p.m. In Licking County, residents can attend a session at The Reese Center, located on the campus of The Ohio State University at Newark and COTC.

During College Goal Sunday, college financial aid professionals will be available to walk students and parents through completion of the FAFSA, a necessary step in qualifying for federal and state grants, loans, and other scholarships. Participants will need to bring parents' and students' 2006 IRS 1040 tax return and W2?s along with other 2006 income and benefits information.

Families are encouraged to register for the free event at www. ohiocollegegoalsunday.org (http:// www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org). Walk-ins are welcome, but due to the great demand for assistance in completing the eight-page FASFA, registration is encouraged.
