Writer shocked by proposed sewer bill hike

Editor:

How many residents have read the letter sent out this week from the Licking County Board of Commissioners? I'm shocked that they want to impose a $20 monthly increase in our sewer rate. They plan to raise it from $29 a month to $49 a month starting in February.

The letter invites us to a public meeting on January 31 at 7 p.m. at the Lakewood High School. It's nice of them to invite us to a meeting to get our comments only one day before they plan to raise the rates.

I hope we will have a great number of people attending this meeting and objecting to this outrageous rate hike. If enough people object, they will likely propose a more acceptable increase that we can all live with.

Many of our residents are on a limited income and have just enough for groceries and medicine. This affects everyone's pocketbooks. We need to be supportive of the welfare of everyone in our community. Mark your calendars now and don't miss this very important meeting.
